Doyle, Arthur Conan Songs Of Action London Smith, Elder, & Co. 1898 First Edition Cloth In Very Good condition. Fully bound in blue cloth. Both the spine and the decorative front board are gilt-stamped. 136pps., fore-edge untrimmed. Moderate rubbing to the boards, with wear at the tips; light soiling to the boards and a touch of sunning to the spine. There is a label on the front pastedown that states that this book was supplied by the British Prisoners Of War Book Scheme; the name of such a recipient -- a Pvt. John Gibson whose camp was located at Chateau d'Oex, and dated 10-29-18, less than two weeks before the armistice ending World War I -- is on the title page. The pages are, otherwise, quite clean -- if slightly yellowed, and have only the occasional fox-mark. The binding is starting, though stable: all pages are intact. A interesting volume of poetry and a bit of a departure for the creator of Sherlock Holmes. Purchase with confidence: all books, gradings, and descriptions are rendered the care of a genuine bibliophile. Satisfaction guaranteed or all costs you've incurred will be promptly refunded.
