Caldwell, Erskine Jackpot : The Short Stories of Erskine Caldwell New York Duell, Sloan and Pearce First Edition (1940). Near Fine in a Good dustjacket. Bound in full blue cloth. Both the spine and the front panel are liberally stamped in silver. Octavo. Red topstain. [ix] + 756pps. Stated First Edition. There is mild rubbing to the bottom edge and there is a tidy gift inscription on the ffep., otherwise clean, tight, square, and bright. The text is immaculate; no apparent reading wear. The dustjacket, glossy in a new mylar sleeve, has moderate edgewear with some loss to the bottom of the rear panel, at the spine-ends, and along the folds; the original price is intact. An excellent copy in a flawed, though colorful dustjacket.
"...A grand omnibus of five books in one -- seventy-five masterly stories (including nine never before published in book form) by an original and mighty American storyteller, humorist, and tragedian. Each story is introduced by Caldwell's own comment on it..."
