1 Connolly, Joseph P.G. Wodehouse: An Illustrated Biography with Complete Bibliography and Collector's Guide
London Orbis Publishing 1979 0856132357 / 9780856132353 First Edition, First Printing Hardcover SIGNED by the Author
Fine in a Fine dustjacket. Russet-brown boards. The spine is stamped in gilt. Quarto. Beige endpapers. 160pps., with numerous photos. There is mild rubbing to the board-bottoms, otherwise clean, bright, square, and soundly bound. The text is immaculate; no previous ownership markings. The dustjacket, glossy in a mylar sleeve, is lightly crinkled at the spine-ends; the original price is intact. SIGNED generically by the biographer 'With Best Wishes' and dated '4.12.79, Hampstead.' An excellent, collector's-quality copy -- scarce signed by the noted Wodehouse authority.

"Celebrated as the creator of Jeeves and Bertie Wooster, P. G. Wodehouse is undoubtedly one of the best-loved humorists of our times. 'Plum', as he was known to his friends, was an uncomplicated and gentle man, unaffected by his enormous success and wealth. While Ethel, his beloved wife, was an enthusiastic hostess and party-goer, Wodehouse was at his happiest with his typewriter, his pets, on long walks and with his few close friends. Joseph Connolly records his rapid rise as a novelist, and details his career from public school to a well-deserved knighthood the year before he died. The book is illustrated with photographs of Wodehouse, the people he worked with -- such as the composers George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin -- and scenes from his stage works and screen adaptations of his books. There is an indispensible Collector's Guide with the fullest bibliography of Wodehouse's work yet published. It includes descriptions of all known dustjackets of his books."
