Ponicsan, Darryl The Last Detail New York The Dial Press 1970 First Edition Cloth Near Fine in a Near Fine dustjacket. Bound in full blue cloth. The spine is stamped in yellow. Octavo. 182pps. Stated First Printing. There is a small doodle (likely, initials) in the upper corner of the front free endpage. Also on that page is a faint ghost of a price-sticker. Otherwise clean, tight, square, and bright. All tips are sharp. No apparent reading wear. The dustjacket, glossy in a new mylar sleeve, is very mildly rubbed and has a slight crinkle at the head of the spine; the original price (4.95) is intact. A very nice, collector's-quality copy of the author's first novel, the basis of the film starring Jack Nicholson.
"...At the transient barracks of the Norfolk Navy Base two long-term sailors drew enviable temporary duty: they are to conduct a third sailor to the Naval Prison at Portsmouth, New Hampshire. This is the story of their journey to the brig and its aftermath..."
