Grubb, Davis The Voices of Glory New York Scribner's 1962 First Edition Very Good+ in a Very Good+ dustjacket. Fully bound in black cloth. Both the spine and the front board are stamped in gilt. Green topstain. 469pps. The topstain is slightly mottled and faded. Mild bumping to the lower tips. Otherwise clean, tight, square, and bright. The text is immaculate; no reading wear. No previous ownership markings. The dustjacket, glossy in a mylar sleeve, has a narrow chip at the top of the rear gutter area; there is, also, a 1/2" closed tear with an attendant crease at the top of the front panel. The original price is intact. A very nice copy.

Doctor, criminal, banker, cook, schoolteacher and barber, each one tells their story and they are wonderfully varied, ranging from shattering tragedy to the serene. These lives interconnect and in all of them one woman plays a crucial part. She is Marcy Cressap, the Public Health Service nurse: the story of this indomitable woman's battle with disease and injustice forms the dramatic center of The Voices of Glory..."
