London Sidgwick and Jackson 1959 First Edition Hard Cover
Very Good+ in a Very Good+ dustjacket. Tan boards. The spine is stamped in gilt. Octavo. 223pps. First British Edition. There is a small soil-mark on the fore-edge, a bookseller's small stamp near the bottom of the ffep., and modest tanning to the endpapers. Otherwise clean, tight, square, and bright. All tips are sharp. No previous ownership inscriptions. The price-clipped dustjacket, glossy in a mylar sleeve, is very mildly rubbed at the extremities and has some faint fox-marks and age-toning; no chips or tears of note. A nice copy of this uncommon edition. With an Introduction by Carvel Collins. ".In 1925 William Faulkner began his professional writing career in earnest while living in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Although he had written poetry, a few book reviews, and student sketches for his university newspaper, he had not yet published any serious fiction. In his first six months in New Orleans, Faulkner made a commitment to fiction writing. Here in one volume are the pieces he wrote while in the French Quarter, published locally in the Times-Picayune and in the Double Dealer."
