1 Prokosch, Frederic A Tale For Midnight
Boston Little, Brown, and Company 1955 First Edition Hardcover
Fine in a Very Good dustjacket. Bound in full black cloth. The spine is gilt-stamped. Bright yellow endpapers. 354pps. Stated First Edition. There is mild bumping to the spine-ends, otherwise clean, tight, square, and bright. All tips are sharp. The text is immaculate; no apparent reading wear and no previous ownership markings. The dustjacket, glossy in a mylar sleeve, has a 1/2" chip at the lower front tip along with minor edgewear; the original price (3.95) is intact on the front flap. A very nice, collector's-quality copy.

"Against the rich, tumultuous background of the Renaissance, Mr. Prokosch unfolds a tale of horror and suspense, of crime and punishment overwhelming in its impact. It happened in the closing years of the sixteenth century, in a country and time when noble families were no strangers to profligacy and crime, to plotting and to murder. Yet even cynical, worldly Rome was profoundly shocked by the Cenci case."
