The spine is stamped in gilt. 132pps. A previous owner's name is neatly penned at the top of the ffep., otherwise excellent: clean, tight, square, and bright. All tips are sharp. The dustjacket, glossy in a mylar sleeve, has modest edgewear at the tips and spine-ends; the panels are lightly rubbed and there is a small and faint dot of soiling on the front panel. The original price is intact. SIGNED by the author -- with no further inscription -- on the title-page. A nice, presentable, signed copy.

With this violent act his old life ends and a strange new existence begins. Fleeing across the desert, Jamshid embarks on a voyage of discovery which eventually takes him to Teheran's New City, a redlight district walled off from the rest of the town. Here, in the black shadows and searing light of this teeming, vice-ridden hole, Jamshid knows loathing, disease and humiliation, and also affection, purity and perhaps grace..."
