1 Monsarrat, Nicholas The Ship That Died of Shame (and other stories)
New York Sloane 1959 First Edition Hard Cover
Fine in a Near Fine dustjacket. Blue boards quarterbound in dark blue cloth. The spine is stamped in blue and silver. Octavo. Black endpapers. 249pps. There is a touch of fading to the very top-edge of the spine, otherwise clean, tight, square, and bright. All tips are sharp. The text is immaculate; no previous ownership markings. The dustjacket, glossy in a mylar sleeve, has a 1/2" closed tear at the head of the spine along with very light edgewear and rubbing; the original price (3.50) is intact. An excellent copy in a colorful jacket.

"...Fascinating in content, varied in setting and type, these stories exhibit all the varied aspects of Mr. Monsarrat's writing that have made him famous: tense adventure and the unsurpassed marine description; electrifying suspense combined with dramatic and violent plots; social satire, humor, and irony. These stories have previously appeared in various periodicals abroad and in such magazines as The Saturday Evening Post and The Atlantic in this country. The host of Monsarrat fans will now welcome their appearance in hardcover..."
